My alarm fired even though the conditions weren't met. Why?

That's the fail-safe working as designed. If Alarm AI couldn't complete a condition check before your alarm — no internet, Airplane Mode, iOS didn't grant a background check in time, or the weather service was down — the alarm fires normally. We will always wake you rather than risk a silent morning you didn't choose. The Activity tab shows what was (or wasn't) checked overnight.

My alarm was skipped. Where do I see why?

Every skip posts a notification and an entry in the Activity tab showing each rule and the actual forecast values that failed it. Tap "Set alarm anyway" on a skipped alarm to override the skip — your override is final and won't be re-decided by a later check.

Alarms aren't firing at all.

Check Settings → Permissions in the app: alarm authorization must be allowed. If it shows "Denied", enable alarms for Alarm AI in the iOS Settings app. Alarm AI requires iOS 26 or later.

Does the app work without location access?

Yes. Location permission is only needed for "Use Current Location". You can search for any location by name instead, or set a default location in Settings.

How do presets work?

A preset bundles a location and its ideal conditions (for surf presets, also the direction the beach faces). In the alarm editor, choose your preset in the "Set up from" menu — it copies the preset's location and conditions into the alarm, which you can then tweak freely. Editing a preset later never changes alarms that used it.

Why is my alarm's status "Can't check yet"?

Forecast data is fetched close to the alarm time (checks run in the final ~75 minutes) so decisions use the freshest data. The Home card shows a predicted outcome further out, then live check results as they happen.

How do I turn off analytics?

Settings → Privacy → Share Anonymous Usage. Details in our privacy policy.
